Unforgettable 30th Birthday in NYC: Private Dinner at Palma

If you’re deciding how to celebrate your 30th birthday in NYC, I can’t recommend a private dinner at Palma enough! This recap details how I organized this special evening, from working with Palma on a custom menu to enjoying an unforgettable night with my NYC friends and the love of my life—one that I will always cherish. 💖

Time really has a way of never slowing down doesn’t it? I still can’t believe I hit 30 this year. It feels like just yesterday I was writing my 25 things I’ve learned by 25 reflections! I honestly have always been a bit of a birthday diva, so of course I had to have a packed 30th birthday agenda: dinner at Palma (in the West Village) with friends, girls weekend in Napa with my 2 sisters and mom, and dinner with John to return to our first date spot (we met on my 29th birthday through mutual friends while out at the Georgia Room)! 🥺

I knew I wanted to plan a dinner with my NYC friends at somewhere with a good ambiance and more wholesome dinner party vibes vs the party vibes I went for on my 29th (full celebration recap here)! Palma was the perfect spot to celebrate ringing in this new decade. The ambiance was cozy, cute and the food was perfection. Palma also include the table flowers, glassware, candles in the setup so it was nice to have one less thing to worry about when planning.

To ensure I secured a room at Palma for my 30th birthday in NYC I made an inquiry well in advance. I submitted the inquiry on May 29th and the dinner was July 19th! Even when emailing they already had some dates booked up and had to adjust to a Friday evening instead of initially preferred Saturday. Worked out perfectly in the end! I worked with the Palma team to create the custom family style menu outlined in the menu below. Make sure to finalize these in advance as they cannot accommodate as well lest minute! I was also able to make a custom menu for each girl with a specific allergy or dietary restriction.

I made custom menus on Canva (top left photo) and printed them out at FedEx to place on each person’s plate. I added their name and a custom note (can see the back of mine top right photo) sharing how much the friendship meant to me and thanking them for celebrating this special night with me. 🙂 Everyone loved this special touch with the personalized notes and I’m so happy I took the extra time to write those out!

The meal was family style and they were coursed out with Antipasti first and ending the night with the dolci. Since dessert was included I didn’t bother bringing a cake this dinner as I did last year. We had the private room from 6:30p through the end of the night and didn’t leave until at least 11:30p! Every dish was incredible and we had such a blast! Their espresso martinis also hit the spot. We then hopped over to a bar in the West Village for a fun end to the perfect night.

Note there is an $1,800 food and drinks minimum to secure this space which we hit easily. This was definitely a pricier dinner option so John (my boyfriend) and I also chipped in extra to help cover the costs for remainder of friends!
