This year, reading more books has been a top focus for me with SO many benefits to reading including improvements in memory, sleep, literacy, conversation topics + reduced stress. Reading is the best escape for me and making an effort to include in the nighttime routine with the red light and ocean sounds from my hatch restore + a cozy cup of chamomile tea.
I have somehow managed to join TWO separate book clubs with friends in the city, which has been so much fun and provides accountability to actually get through the reads. We typically vote on the next book after we meet and have met at some really adorable spots such as Bibliotheque or 1803 after reading First Lie Wins.
None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell
Currently reading, but already invested in the story. This is a psychological thriller of a woman who somehow manages to find herself the subject of her own true crime podcast. The book begins with two women meeting as birthday twins a night out at a restaurant celebrating their 45th birthday. Have you read this?? I will report back once finished with full review! We are meeting to recap this book with a movie in the park.
The Dinner List: A Novel by Rebecca Serle
Read this on my sister’s kindle and found this to be a thought provoking book, however I did not like how toxic the relationship was between the main character. The book is premised on the idea of if you could have dinner with any 5 people in the world, dead or alive, who would they be? The plot twist is that the main character Sabrina actually finds herself sitting in this dinner from a list she made years back. The book alternates chapters between her relationship story with Tobias start to finish and the dinner.
I found this to be an easy and enjoyable read, however I did not enjoy just HOW toxic the relationship with Tobias was. However, it highlights how blinding love can truly be. The idea of the 5 person dinner is also thought provoking and makes you wonder who you would want to invite to your dream dinner party.

This Summer Will Be Different by Carley Fortune
An adorable summer read that follows two best friends living in Toronto, and visiting the friend’s hometown island of Prince Edward Island. The book alternates between Lucy and Felix’s story on the island over the past 5 years starting from the beginning, alongside a present day crisis with Lucy’s best friend Bridget’s crisis just a week out from her wedding.
I thought this book was going to be a little too predictable, but found it to be an adorable read, and kept me on my toes at times trying to figure out what was going to happen next. This is a great beach read, and the story really captures what’s meant to be will be. Has had raving reviews from all members of our book club!

First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston
I couldn’t put this book down!! Was such a fun thriller following the life of Evie Porter, but the biggest catch is Evie Porter doesn’t exist. The story follows the main character over the years sharing her story of working for a secret boss Mr. Smith, and the different missions she is sent on, immersing herself into the lives of others to obtain information and items for him. This will definitely keep you on your toes and guessing the whole time where it is going! Would definitely recommend adding to your list.

The House In The Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune
An adorable story in a fantasy world following the life of Linus Baker, who has always played by the rules perfectly of his company, which has led him to be sent on a top secret excursion far away to a mysterious orphanage. The kids are all magical, and they have reason to believe dangerous to society. However, as the book unfolds, you start to question who is truly the danger. I found this to be a very sweet read, and loved all of the character TJ developed. The growth of Linus is amazing to see from start to finish.
