Description
How to make sweet potato toast, a gluten free substitute for bread, 2 easy ways! These toasts are Grain Free, Paleo, Low Carb, and Whole 30 Approved!
Ingredients
Scale
1–2 Sweet Potatoes (can prep more if you want to meal prep for the week)
Oil of choice (coconut oil for sweet and avocado oil for savory are my two favorite options)
Instructions
Oven Baked Sweet Potato Toast
- Wash your sweet potato(s) thoroughly with Branch Basics All Purpose Spray and water.
- Use your chopping knife to cut the sweet potato into 1/4 inch slices. This is the hardest part of making sweet potato and promise the rest gets easier after this step! Make sure to use a cutting board and watch your fingers.
- Once your potato(s) is/are completely sliced, spread them out evenly on a baking sheet.
- If you are looking to make sweet toasts, drizzle them with melted coconut oil evenly and rub in with fingers.
- If you are looking to make savory toasts, drizzle them with avocado oil or use a spray bottle to coat evenly.
- Sprinkle them off with pink salt before baking.
- Pop them into the oven at 400 and bake for ~25-30 minutes until golden and tender. Bake time may be lower/higher depending on size of sweet potato and slices so monitor closely when you get close to the 25 min mark.
- Top off with your favorite toppings! Inspiration ideas in post
Toaster Sweet Potato Toast
- Wash your sweet potato(s) thoroughly with Branch Basics All Purpose Spray and water.
- Use your chopping knife to cut the sweet potato into 1/4 inch slices. This is the hardest part of making sweet potato and promise the rest gets easier after this step! Make sure to use a cutting board and watch your fingers.
- Once your potato(s) is/are completely sliced, spread them out evenly on a baking sheet, or large plate.
- If you are looking to make sweet toasts, drizzle them with melted coconut oil evenly and rub in with fingers.
- If you are looking to make savory toasts, drizzle them with avocado oil or use a spray bottle to coat evenly.
- Sprinkle them off with pink salt before toasting.
- Add one slice to each side of your toaster and cook on the highest setting. Be careful with your smaller slices as these may get lost in the toaster oven so I generally recommend only toasting your larger slices, otherwise you may be fishing for your sweet potato slice in the toaster.
- Once the toaster pops up as finished, check your sweet potato and toast again. You will need to toast 3-4 times generally to get your slice to the desired tenderness. A fork should slide in easily into the toast, if it is firm, continue toasting.
- Top off with your favorite toppings! Inspiration ideas in post.
Notes
Store leftovers in a stasher bag for reheating later in the week.
To reheat your sweet potato toast leftovers just pop in the toaster or you can warm in the microwave.
