This FORM50 Review walks you through what to expect for your first class in addition to the class format, cost, intensity level, what to bring, and FAQ!

I am so tempted to gatekeep this studio, but FORM50 has become one of my FAVE reformer studios in the city. The studio aesthetic is top tier, and the instructors are so clear to follow in their cues. I feel challenged throughout class, and the music is upbeat and motivating.

First Class
I would recommend showing up to class ~10-15 minutes early to check in and get situated with lockers, water, etc. If you are late, they will not allow you to enter class. Make sure they know it is your first class, as they have reserved reformers for first timers. Grip socks are REQUIRED for class. Let your instructor know you are receptive to corrections throughout class to ensure your form is in tip top shape.
If very new to reformer machines, I would recommend starting with the FORM Your Foundation class to ground in the basics and proper form. I cannot speak to this foundation class, as I have not tried it!
Class Format

Note that FORM50 is NOT pilates. There are similarities, with both being low impact and using a machine. However, FORM50 is a more high intensity, low impact, strength training workout. It is a 50 minute workout with 45 minutes of intensity, followed by a 5 minute cooldown. There are no breaks really cued throughout class, but you can always pause for water as needed. The room is kept cool, so the sweat level was low for me, but intensity level HIGH.
What to Bring
Note that it is required to wear grip socks for FORM50 classes. If you do not have a pair I linked a couple options below, or they also have socks in studio available for purchase.
- Water Bottle – linking my FAVE bottle with a sippy lid. They also have Essentia water to purchase if you forget to bring.
- Fitness Tracker (optional to track workout – I love my Apple watch)
- Grip Socks (REQUIRED) linking some I like below. Lucky Honey has the most adorable pairs with a current buy 3 get 1 free promo (I love mine)!
- Towel (optional – I didn’t find myself super sweaty reaching for one) They also have towels in studio you can pay to rent.
What to Wear
Any clothes you are comfortable in to move your body in works great from leggings to biker shorts to one pieces. I would only recommend avoiding and loose fitted shorts as there is a lot of leaning over/bending and you may feel uncomfortable if you feel like you’re flashing others in class! I also personally would recommend a tight fitted top for the same reason of not having your top hanging into your face during exercises.

Intensity Level
This 50 minute class is a very controlled movement, high burn series of exercises on the reformer machine. You’ll burn less calories in this class, but it is great for strengthening and toning. This class is extremely challenging and has a heavy focus on the core.
You can also continue to modify resistance with the springs to make the class more or less challenging. Breaks are not really cued throughout, and it features fast-paced transitions. You can of course take a break as needed throughout!

ClassPass
If you’ve been reading my other studio reviews, you’ve likely picked up by now that I am a HUGE fan of ClassPass. As you can see below, unless you are doing the monthly unlimited membership and taking 11+ classes/month, the cost per class is lower with ClassPass. However, you are limited by tougher access to peak hour classes. With this being a newer studio, I have had more success getting slots on ClassPass so far!
- Single Class: Varies from ~10-16 credits per class ($21-$33 per class)
Again, the lowest cost option unless you are on the unlimited membership! However the membership also include additional perks and priority time access, so really depends what is a priority to you.
FORM50 Lockers

This may vary by studio, but in the Midtown East studio, they have free lockers with codes for use. If you prefer not to use a locker, there are cubbies available for your shoes. Small items like a purse or phone can be brought into the studio but must be stored in a basket beneath your machine.
FORM50 Locker Room Review
I was truly impressed with the locker room facilities. They offer an abundance of showers, a wide selection of toiletries, and blow dryers.

My FORM50 Review
I am completely obsessed with this studio, and couldn’t recommend enough. If you are looking for a high end studio with all the amenities (ie sauna with red light therapy) + an extremely challenging workout, then this is your spot!! The instructors were all SO friendly and the music was so upbeat and motivating.

Likes:
- Full body toning and can continue to challenge yourself further with higher resistance
- Upbeat DJ playlist with great song selections
- Extremely challenging but can take breaks as needed
Dislikes:
- Honestly none really, my only complaint is that there are no more studios nearby where I live! A bit of a hike for me to get to Midtown.
FORM50 FAQ:
What if I’m running late?
Just do not be late, ESPECIALLY for your class. Definitely plan to give yourself at least 10-15 minutes before start time to get situated and comfortable on the reformer. The class is already so expensive and for just 50 minutes, you do not want to miss out on any valuable workout time!
For returning clients, they offer a 5 minute grace period after which they will count it as a no show.
What if I have a specific injury & can’t do certain exercises?
With the nature of FORM50 being a full body workout, I would not recommend taking class if you have a serious knee, back, wrist, or shoulder injury. There are a lot of combo movements with lunges, planks, etc all on the reformer, so it could be tough to get modified exercises. If you have concerns about whether a class is suitable for you, consider discussing them with the studio or instructor. Additionally, consult with your doctor if applicable.
Can I cancel my membership at any time?
YES. If you need to cancel your membership, just make sure to reach out to Form50 via email (hello@form50fitness.com) at least 1 week before your billing cycle renews.
Alternatively, you can FREEZE your membership for a minimum of 1 month and a maximum of 3 months once per year. As the cancellation policy, make sure to reach out to them at least 1 week in advance before your billing cycle via email (hello@form50fitness.com). Make sure to include your freeze start date and end date in your email.
These policies are subject to change, so always refer to their website for the most up to date information.
Can I use my FORM50 membership/class packs across studios?
As of now, class pack and memberships are purchased for your home studio only.
Can I bring a guest?
You can use one of your credits in a package or purchase a single credit to bring a guest. You reserve your guests spot the same as you do for yours: online or on the Form50 app. Note that intro packs are excluded from this.
Also, if on the 8x per month or Monthly Unlimited Membership, you receive 1 Guest Pass included per billing cycle!
