I can’t believe it has already been over a month since the murder of George Floyd. A month for us as a society to reflect, learn, speak up, educate, and protest. This one act of police brutality is just one of countless that opened up our eyes as a society to make a change in the injustice in our system. Many of us have known that these acts were happening on a consistent basis, but like me, may have been helpless against such a large force.
Not only has this been a wake up call for society, but a wake up call for myself. I am challenging myself to continue to speak up in the face of injustice and discrimination.
As Nelson Mandela said: “it is in your hands to create a better world for all who live in it.”
My biggest fear is that we will be content with just posting a black square for #blackouttuesday and then moving on with our lives. I’m encouraging myself and others to continue to push this movement, as there is SO much work for us to continue to do. This post has been a work in progress & I’m excited to finally share a round up below on the top resources for Black Lives Matter to EDUCATE, DONATE, and PETITION.
