11 Must Try Dallas Restaurants (From a Local)

A roundup of 11 must try Dallas restaurants in Texas. I grew up in the Dallas area, and still go home a few times every year, so I have been to my fair share of restaurants there! These are my top picks of places to try for your next special occasion!

Where to Stay in Dallas, TX:

Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek

Stay here for European upscale charm in the architecture and amazing location in Dallas. We loved our stay here and spent a great amount of time here lounging by the gorgeous pool.

There is also an on-site restaurant and bar with live music which was so much fun at night!

1. The Charles

I can’t say enough good things about the Charles, and wish I had tried it even sooner! Definitely my top pick for a date night, or if you want to impress a friend in town with an amazing, good vibes/food dinner. The ambiance is cozy and upscale with the sweetest staff. Immediately upon entering we were greeted with warm smiles and genuine interest in our occasion. My sister was very pregnant and they even gave us a few extra sides and dessert to celebrate her.

We started with a few apps for the table with a bottle of the Alberto Conti Red Wine (highly recommend) and then each ordered a main. The lemon ricotta gnudi pasta was easily one of the best plates I have ever had and still dream about it (smaller portion so could definitely order with sides or as appetizer)!

2. Monarch

The perfect destination for a special night. I’ve been here twice and had an amazing experience both times. The service is top notch and you are greeted with a glass of champagne for the elevator ride up. Go before sunset to get some great views of the city and head upstairs to the bar area after dinner!

Pro Tip: I would also recommend Catbird for a vibey pre dinner drink if waiting for your reservation.

Everything was incredible, but my favorite dish was the shrimp scampi ravioli! I don’t eat red meat, but my friend had the crispy veal and also highly recommended.

3. Musume

This was a newer find in Dallas and was SO impressed with the service and quality of food. PLUS there’s a Speakeasy in the back (pictured below right). They greet you with some Shishito peppers to start, and they also have the largest sake collection in all of North America. This is the perfect date night spot to start with dinner and end with drinks in the speakeasy.

4. RH Rooftop Restaurant

To be completely honest, I was a bit skeptical that this restaurant would be all for the aesthetic without good food to back it. However, the food was honestly amazing. I admire a restaurant that can make the simple things taste amazing which is exactly what they did! Plus the rooftop is STUNNING. ✨

We shared the roasted chicken and truffle fries which were both so delish!!

5. Shinsei

We came here for a girls dinner to celebrate my sister’s baby twins on the way! Fitting since Shinsei means “rebirth”. We loved everything about this spot, the ambiance, the service, and the food was to die for. We ordered a TON of sushi rolls for the table and they were all devoured. Definitely a more upscale, fancy vibe so would dress up for this dinner spot!

Note the photos don’t do this place as much justice since they kept bringing our rolls staggered throughout the meal, but you get the jist. 🙂

6. Paradiso

Located in the Bishop Arts (such a cool neighborhood to explore) is Paradiso. They have the most gorgeous patio for a nice sunny day. I recommend coming here for lunch/dinner as they don’t have much of a breakfast focused brunch vibe (more lunch/dinner options). All of the food I’ve had here was delicious, and definitely recommend the espresso martinis and pizza!

7. Oishii

Another absolute favorite Dallas sushi spot with a few locations in Dallas (SMU/Wycliff), Grapevine, and Plano. Their truffle Tribeca roll is one of the best rolls I’ve ever had (coming from someone who has had a lot of sushi in their life). Comes with salmon, shrimp chips, tempura flakes, truffle oil and avocado. 🤤

8. Cane Rosso

Some of the best pizza you’ll ever have is at Cane Rosso. Anytime I’m in Dallas, I’m dying to go back for a slice. This is a great spot to visit with a group with a more cute casual vibe and amazing pies to share. They also have 2 other locations in Fort Worth and Arlington! The Dallas location is in Deep Ellum which is another fun neighborhood to explore during the day (must check out Electric Shuffle bar or Whiskey Hatchet axe throwing too)!

9. Sky Blossom

A fun vibes, great Dallas views restaurant if you want a more casual, fun dinner to catch up with friends. The food and drinks were amazing, and the balcony overlooks the city. Definitely a spot to visit on a nice sunny day out.

10. Homewood

A go to for one of my friends and I to catch up over dinner any time we are back home in Dallas. The menu is seasonal which I appreciate that the focus on sourcing fresh, seasonal ingredients. Everything I’ve tried here was amazing, and the service was great!

11. Beverley’s

A brunch favorite with the cutest interior design and amazing chilaquiles. This was the perfect spot for catching up with the girls over brunch. I can’t speak to their dinner as I haven’t tried it, but brunch was so good and I loved the aesthetic inside.
